Beekeeping Project

This project will cover the basics of bee biology, bee keeping equipment, honey and wax harvest, risks to bees and ways to support them, swarms, and hive splitting. Participants will get to taste honey and make a wax project. Project members will view bee hives and active frames from a distance, but will not directly interact with bees.

Limit: no limit

When: Four 90-minute meetings on Saturday afternoons in Oct, Nov, Feb, April - will poll members to determine exact days

October: Basics of bee biology and bee keeping equipment

November: Honey harvest and wax project

February: Risks to bees and ways to support them (activity with pollinator plants)

April: Swarms and hive splitting

Where: Hayward near Upper D Street  (Project Leader will send location and any date/time changes)

Cost: free to members
