NOTE: This project fills up quickly. If you get waitlisted and don't get in, you will get first priority to join next year.
In the 4-H Fishing Project we will offer youth a hands-on opportunity to learn angling skills, aquatic ecology, and conservation principles. Participants will learn some fundamental knot tying, casting techniques, and about the different types of tackle, bait and other equipment, while also learning about fish identification, habitat, the aquatic food chain, fishing regulations, and the ethics of responsible angling.
The project promotes leadership, outdoor activity, and a deeper understanding of aquatic environments, encouraging youth to become stewards of natural resources. We plan on having several fishing dates throughout the year over several locations including the San Francisco Bay, the Delta, and a lake or freshwater stream. Participation is welcome, and encouraged, for all ages.
Age: All Ages
Limit: 20 participants
When: 2 to 3 weekend day trips TBD
