NOTE: This project fills up quickly. If you get waitlisted and don't get in, you will get first priority to join next year.
Watching a model rocket blast off the launch pad and streak toward the heavens-it's a fun and exciting experience! And preparing for a launch can even be more exciting.
Rocketry Project members will learn about engine thrust, recovery systems, stability, decision making and cooperation.
Model rocketry is timely; it's a Space Age project. The project may encourage members to explore careers in aerospace or other science fields. There's no limit to what they may explore! And you'll feel proud as you build and launch your first rockets!
Project members can also enter their rockets to the Alameda County Fair!
When: various Saturdays, see below. Launch in March.
Age: 10 and older, must be in 4th grade and up due to complexity of materials covered
Max: 12 members
Cost: up to $50 to purchase your own rocket kit
