The Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Southern Alameda County, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art of quilt making, is partnering with Redwood 4-H Club to teach the Quilting Project. The guild aims to preserve quilting traditions, inspire creativity, and foster a community among quilters of all skill levels. They also engage in charitable works, such as making quilts for donation to local shelters.
In this fun, hands-on project, members will explore color and pattern, learn to measure and cut simple fabric shapes, and practice beginner sewing skills by hand and with guidance on a sewing machine. They’ll discover how to layer, quilt, and finish a small project—like a doll blanket, mini wall hanging or lap blanket—while building confidence, creativity, and care for their tools. Perfect for kids ready to stitch their first masterpiece!
The project is open to all age members AND any guardian/grandparent that wants to learn are welcome to participate in the project.
The goal of this project is to make an item to submit to the Alameda County Fair. We encourage all members to attend the Piecemaker's Quilt Show.
