Canning is a process that preservers food by sealing it in jars to protect it from bacteria and mold, and make it shelf-stable. This allows food to be stored for longer than it would if kept in the refrigerator, canning is a great option if you make a lot of food or want to save it for a later use.
Members will learn about food safety and how to can different types of food. This year will feature cooking and canning in 3 different session:
tomato sauce and canning
pickling and canning
jam and canning
Plus 1 additional TBD meeting in April/May to work on fair entries
Age: 9+
Limit: 10 members
When: 2pm Sundays - November 16, Jan 11, Mar 8, TBD April/May for fair entries
