Redwood 4-H Club Safety Policy

At Redwood 4-H, we want everyone to be safe, have fun, and feel welcome! Club and Project Meetings can be busy, so we all work together to keep ourselves, our friends, and our meeting spaces safe.

🌱 Stay with the Group

• Stay inside the building during Club Meetings unless you are leaving with your parent or guardian.

• Stay in the designated meeting area during Project Meetings.

• Check with an adult volunteer if you are unsure where you should be.

🚶 Move Safely

• Keep your feet on the ground. Handrails are for holding, not for sitting or climbing. Use furniture, fences, trees, structures, and equipment only as they are intended to be used.

• Walk inside and around our meeting spaces. Running and active play is okay when part of an organized recreation game or mixer

• Give others enough space to move and participate safely.

👂 Listen & Follow Directions

• Listen to and follow instructions from 4-H adult volunteers and youth officers.

• Follow the safety rules for each activity and use tools, equipment, and supplies as instructed.

• If you aren't sure how to do something safely, ask an adult for help.

💚 Respect Each Other

• Be kind and respectful to other youth, volunteers, parents, and guests.

• Use words and actions that help everyone feel welcome and included.

• Keep your hands, feet, and belongings in your own space.

• Take turns, listen to others, and work together.

🏠 Take Care of Our Meeting Spaces

• Help leave our meeting spaces clean and in good condition.

• Use furniture, equipment, supplies, and other property with care.

• If you spill something, help clean it up.

• If something gets broken or damaged, tell an adult right away.

⭐ Remember: Safety Is Everyone's Job!

Our adult volunteers and youth officers will help remind members of these guidelines when needed.

We want every youth member to have a safe and positive 4-H experience. If your child may need additional support or supervision to safely participate in meetings or activities, please let a 4-H adult volunteer know so we can work together to support them.

We also ask parents and guardians to help supervise their youth as needed and reinforce our safety guidelines during Club and Project Meetings. If a youth is having difficulty following safety directions or staying safely within the meeting area, we may ask their parent or guardian to provide additional supervision.

When we all make safe choices, everyone can have more fun at 4-H!
